Doggy Paddle Swimathon
To celebrate National Pet Month and raise money for charity, mypetstop pet resort & care centre at Tingley, Leeds ran a doggy paddle swimathon on Monday 7th May. The focus of the day was for dog and owner to have fun together whilst enjoying swimming and raising money for charity. Heather Roberts, mypetstop® Leeds Pet Care Manager explains, “We felt that National Pet Month was an ideal opportunity to raise awareness of responsible pet ownership – a topic that we are passionate about. Most dogs love to splash round in water, but it can be hard to find somewhere safe to take them, so the mypetstop® hydrotherapy pool is the answer”.
Everyone at mypetstop® Leeds had an excellent day during the Swimathon. Lots of our regular dog swimmers really got into the spirit of the event, and we also had donations from those wishing to try swimming for the first time.
We would like to congratulate Mrs Leng and her dog Sam, who raised a whopping £113.50! Sam has been swimming at mypetstop® for over two years to alleviate symptoms of a musculoskeletal medial condition. He loves the water and we certainly enjoy seeing him every time he comes.
Danielle Firth had heard about the event and decided to come along to introduce her dog Lilly to the pool whilst raising £37.50 for charity along the way!
The youngest dog in the pool was Kiwi belonging to team member Carri Hoare, who donated £10. Carri was surprised how much Kiwi enjoyed her first dip in the pool – so much so, she has signed Kiwi up for our Puppy Swim program.
The last swim of the day was Lenny belonging to Karen Wilson. The duo raised £77.00 and Lenny enjoyed an extra special pamper including a shampoo and rinse from his favourite team member Hannah.
In total there were 42 swims during the day and the event raised a fantastic £551. We would like to thank all our customers for their support and for helping to raise money. Also, credit must go to our hydrotherapists, Amy Armitage, Nadia Bowyer and Hannah Fielder who ensured that the day ran very smoothly and that fun was had by all.
